The A&E Yacht maintenance Robot that is used exclusively with Supernavi products and works in partnership with the Boero company demonstated it's clear added value on the Seatec show in Carara. The reference event for the marine industry, Seatec brings together quality companies and is the ideal venue for presenting products and innovation, events and international competitions. This is the case of the Qualitec Technology Award, an award for innovative technology, set up to award and promote technology innovation put forward and presented by companies exhibiting at Seatec, the seventh International exhibition for technology, supplies and design for boats, yachts and ships. The Robot is able to sand all applied filler and highbuild primers as well as the alumunium surface.
A high profile jury examined the projects for 2009’s competition composed of Paolo Scifoni (chairman), Giampiero Audino and Paolo Colombo who, after examining a really remarkable series of products on show, assigned first place to the company A&E Yacht Services based in Viareggio for IMR 1.0, an actual system for the robotic application of complete filling and topcoat cycles on super yacht hulls that, according to the official motivation, is a significant step ahead in many areas such as the pre-calculation of the quantities of filler necessary, continuous applications over longer periods of time and so lower overall time as well as a significant reduction of accident risks related to work high up on scaffolding, with a significant reduction of dust dispersed in the environment. The “robot” carries out the application of the various coats and the milling of each coat so as to carry out the established cycles with an accuracy that is not possible by traditional methods at a lower overall cost compared to traditional methods.

The Boero Supernavi yacht line has a new representative in Germany and they decided to present themself to the large public on the biggest indoor nautical show in the world. The world might be in a financial crisis, but the show must go on, and this was the reality at the 40th editions of Boot Dusseldorf. Yacht Solutions is a company based in Hamburg and focussed on New build and refitting yachts of all sizes. the are a young and fresh enterprise, but with people that have a long track record in the yachting industry. Germany is a country with a lot of pashion for yachting and a growing number of companies that build high quality steel and fiberglass yachts.
Following the launch of M/Y “Romance” and only a week after the launch of the 43 mt M/Y “Rubeccan” CRN launched the fifth vessel of CRN 128’ composite line: “Lady Belmor”. The mega planing-yacht, was placed in the water on October 25th during a private ceremony for the shipowner and his family.
Following the traditional breaking of the bottle, the vessel, with her elegant grey hull - the first time this colour has been used on the 128’ line – thrilled the onlooking guests as it entered the water.
The paint system of almost all CRN produced yachts has been provided by Boero as complete Supernavi system up to the topcoat, but the way it looks now, the following 43m yacht of CRN will also have the Challenger HS topcoat.
At a length of 40 metres and a width of 7.7, this mega-yacht can easily accommodate 12 passengers and a crew of 8.
Designed for owners who want onboard comfort, but without neglecting performance, the two engines of the CRN 128’ line, MTU 12V 4000 M90 2040 kW models, provide a maximum speed of 24 knots and a cruising speed of 19.
Further proof of the technological excellence built into every mega-yacht designed by CRN is the installation, as a standard feature, of 5 Mitsubishi Anti Rolling Gyros (5 MSM 4000), a stabiliser system capable of reducing the roll of the ship by more than 50%, especially when it is anchored offshore or docked.
The result of a joint effort by the CRN technical team and the Zuccon International Project firm, “Lady Belmor” is a yacht with an unmistakably distinctive layout featuring three covered decks, plus an innovative tender garage with side opening.
Selected after close consultation with the owner, the elements of the interior design are characterised by a modern design, highlighted by the numerous details in steel, such as the frames on the built-in furniture and the wooden Venetian blinds, used in place of decorative curtains in all the different settings. A single type of wood panelling, canaletto walnut, is found throughout the ship, whose further elements of design elegance include the “L”-shaped Cassina sofa in the main lounge. The owner’s suite of this highly refined mega-yacht is found in the forward portion of the main deck, while the lower deck is set aside for the guests’ night zone.
As for the immense sundeck, its forward section holds a tub, while the aft portion serves as a sunbathing area.

Cantieri Navali Baglietto, a world leader in the construction of superyachts, is proud to announce the launch of hull No. C. 10201, a 58-metre aluminium motor yacht, christened Viki.
The naval architecture and exterior lines are designed by Gruppo Baglietto Engineering, the in house naval engineering centre that provides the shipyards of the Group with expertise in naval engineering, design and research and development.
Architect and designer William Sawaya from the studio Sawaya & Moroni created Viki’s interior style and some exterior details. The result is an elegant interior décor with fine details and showing a vast range of rare and precious materials.
Baglietto paints almost all their new-builds ( including Viki ) with the Supernavi paint system from Boero. The final topcoat in this case is Awlgrip/Dupont.
This yacht offers a great degree of comfort even at high speeds and has distinct details that make her unique:
Helicopter deck and a relaxing area with a large sauna offering a sea view and a green wall or vertical garden and a 900 litre aquarium in the guest lobby.
Baglietto Yachts are constructed in Northwestern Italy at two shipyards at Varazze and La Spezia. Pietro Baglietto founded this company in 1854, in Varazze, first with an emphasis on a military/naval shipyard. As well as continuing in this military tradition, Varazze's pleasure yacht specialty is in fast motor yachts up to 131 feet in size, and La Spezia creates superyachts over 131 feet in length. Aluminum and steel are the construction materials of choice for Baglietto, who draws from a wide technology and process base for creating vessels.
The La Speziare shipyard, in use since 1930, also has a long history with refittings.
In 2004 – when Gruppo Baglietto entered the yachting business – the value of its production was less than
€40 million. At the end of 2008, production will exceed €190 million.
At present the Group is fully committed until 2011, with 25 orders that, between them, amount to a total
length of 1,032 metres. For more info visit www.baglietto.com
Genoa 48th International Boat Show, which was officially opened at Fiera di Genova on 4th October by the Italian Minister for Economic Development, Mr Claudio Scajola, closed successfully on Sunday, recording a large number of visitors and business negotiations. The overall estimated number of visitors, while gates are still open, is 315 thousand.
According to Fiera di Genova SpA’s Chairman, Mr Paolo Lombardi,” This Boat Show has been a watershed, in spite of the ongoing international crisis. The new pavilion B designed by Jean Nouvel is going to become the symbol of the Show, the fair and exhibition centre, and the city as a whole, and will give us a competitive advantage on our competitors in terms of functionality and business development opportunities. Genoa Boat Show has confirmed its worldwide leadership”.
Mr Lombardi highlights other important new features in this year’s Show: “Thanks to the availability of the new pavilion B and of the new technical basin entirely devoted to sailing, the show’s layout has been almost entirely redesigned. The complex organisational machinery has worked effectively, thus bearing witness to the strength, prestige, and authoritativeness of the Show”.
The Boero Supernavi stand that was located inside pavilion C together with all other yacht-paint companies present at the show attracted many new and obviously also ''old'' customers, but also had to admit that the beautiful weather kept many visitors outside close to the yachts in the water.
The amount of Superyachts that decide to display their vessels at the show also increases every year and one can debate if this or the Monaco show is a better place to reach your public. Supernavi clients like Baglietto and Mondo Marine made sure they had their latest ''pearls'' to be seen by large rows of people.
To ensure the further development of the Show and, more in general, of Fiera di Genova, Mr Lombardi is now asking for more certainties regarding leasing arrangements. "Without certainties in this respect it would be much more difficult for us to meet the new challenges that we will be confronted with: the construction of the hotel that is going to replace the former Ansaldo building and the use of the technical basin for next shows. The Boat Show this year has integrated even more with the city, involving it with the interactive area set up in the Old Port and targeted at young people, and with the great show open to the large public during the gala night.

The latest edition of the annual glamorous superyacht event in Monaco has been again successful. It might be the case that the ‘’smaller yacht’’ industry is having difficulties, but the ‘’BIG’’ boys still attract enough attention. After the construction activities of the new part of the Monte Carlo harbour were finished last year, the Show organisation had the possibility to display more yachts than ever before.
Superyachts are more and more finished in ‘’fancy ‘’ colours and this could be witnessed by anyone who paid attention to the sometimes beautiful paintjobs that had been done on the yachts inside the Port. The traditional colours are white and blue, but even though this is still the majority one can find all colours of the rainbow ( including metallic or pearlescent )
However, besides beauty there could also be seen several not so great paintjobs ( understatement ). The growth of the Super and Megayacht industry is definitely taking it’s toll and one can be concerned about the paint-quality that is being delivered in some cases. The paint issue was this year a hot topic ( maybe more than ever before )
Many of the Superyacht build every year are done with the Supernavi primer and filler system ( between 40 and 50 ), but lately more and more are finished completely with Boero’s topcoat.
Boero Supernavi decided to organise this year a smashing cocktail party on it’s stand and did this in Hawaiian style. It attracted even more visitors than expected and unfortunately this resulted in a lack of sufficient beverages of all kind. The traditional dances were a joy to see and more than one of the guest tried out his capacities on the ‘’dance-floor’’.
Also the famous ‘’Red Arrows’’ surprised the visitors of the yachtshow with a fantastic flightshow that was largely appreciated. The Red Arrows are renowned throughout the world as ambassadors for both the Royal Air Force and the United Kingdom. The Team was officially formed in 1965.
All together one could speak about a very interesting Show this year and plenty of exhibitors and visitors will already look forward to next year.
